Shannon is a case worker at JustUs and is a member for the National Institute of Clinical Excellence Guideline on integrated health and care for people who are homeless.
Shannon started her career in Education, working within safeguarding departments and pastoral care, and later with children with special needs and behavioural needs.
Later she worked in a homelessness social enterprise whose aim is to end homelessness through providing accommodation and work. Shannon sat on the board there, advocating for other residents, and attended national meetings to assist in with the charity’s strategic plan.
Shannon said she realised homelessness outreach wasn’t enough on it’s own to tackle homelessness – a more systemic solution was needed, so she started work on developing training for teachers to recognise homelessness in schools, particularly hidden homelessness, and what teachers can do to help.
