The ongoing housing crisis is making it increasingly difficult to secure suitable accommodation for clients who are homeless or at risk of abuse in their own homes. Making full use of homelessness law is a vital way to increase positive routes out of homelessness and can be an easy way to secure better outcomes for homeless clients accessing professional services.
There are often simple opportunities to help people get suitably housed. This course is designed to equip professionals and volunteers who support homeless people in some capacity to recognise when it is possible to get statutory help and what information will be needed to do so.
On completion of this course you will have:
- An awareness and basic understanding of Homelessness Legislation.
- An understanding of the legal definitions of homelessness, priority need, intentional homelessness and local connection.
- The information needed to know when a homeless application is appropriate.
- A practical understanding of how to help someone make a strong application for housing assistance.
- An awareness of other statutory help relevant to homeless people.
- 5.75hrs of CPD
